Bologna

The food city of Italy: Bologna. I was extremely excited to enter Bologna because I’ve heard how wonderful their food is. We didn’t arrive in bologna until pretty late, so my first meal was dinner. Most of us were pretty tired arriving in Bologna because we had a two in a half bus ride from Poppi. My group was starving, so we went to the first restaurant we found: Trebbi. Bologna is known for their Bolognase Ragu meat sauce. I saw they had on the menu fried tagilettine Ragu and thought why not try it. To my surprise it was actually fried. The noodles were hard but still delicious.

The next morning I felt like a true Italian because I had gelato for breakfast. Breakfast of champions, what can I say? I decided to get salted carmel, chocolate, and coffee flavor. Let me tell you, best combination in the world. After gelato, we went to the University of Bologna were we saw the anatomical theater that showcased where previous students learned the disciplines of anatomy and physical sciences. As a graduate with a Bachelors of Science degree, this was by far my favorite museum. After the University of Bologna, we went to the towers located on Via Rizzoli, which I was excited for because my mom’s maiden name is Rizzo and her whole family is from Italy.
For dinner, we went to a restrauant that a lot of the college students in Bologna go to called Osteria dell Orsa. They are reasonably priced, which is good this late in the trip, with the best Ragu sauce I’ve ever had. I can definitely understand why Bologna is considered the food city.
